Hi all,

Here's a quick video where I pick the winner of the leo & tights giveaway! Here it is.  Gotta love how Youtube picks the most unflattering screenshots as the cover image.

I wanted to thank all of the ladies who took the time to put together such thoughtful replies to my questions!  You should all be proud.  :)

If you are the winner listed here, please send me an email at lindsay@pointeperfect.com, I can't contact you through blogger!

Thanks again!

  1. Hi. I've recently started following your blog. I discovered it while asking Google if ballet could help me lose weight. I'm 22, I started taking classes in the middle of last year, and I couldn't go very frequently, so of course I couldn't see any result - at least talking about my body; instead I gained a much better posture starting from day one.
The thing is: is it normal if I weigh more the day after I exercised? I just did a short session following a video for principiants yesterday, and also the day before, after 20 minutes of HIIT... I can't understand why I'm gaining so much weight lately. There's nothing wrong with my intake, I'm always around 1200 kcals/day.

    1. Hi Anonymous!

Kudos for working to improve yourself! It's hard to say really what exactly is going on, but I do have a few suggestions for you.

I think it's too easy to let the number on the scale hold us hostage. It can become an obsession with multiple weigh-ins a day. In truth though, weight loss and gain can happen rapidly and for so many reasons. Water retention & dehydration, bingeing & purging, fat loss & muscle gain among so many other factors.

I would suggest putting away the scale and only pulling it out one day a week. Try to not obsess! One day you might wake up 5lbs heavier than the day before for no apparent reason. The very best way to track your results is with a measuring tape. Get one intended for sewing (super cheap at a big box or craft store) and start a measurement journal.

I suggest this, because almost all of last year I was gaining or staying stagnant in my actual weight, but my measurements and body shape changed dramatically. People like to say "muscle weighs more than fat", but 1lb of muscle weighs the exact same as 1lb of fat. 1lb of muscle, however, takes up significantly less space than 1lb of fat.

I suspect if you are ramping up your workouts, you might just be seeing an increase in the amount of muscle your frame carries, and this is a good thing! Muscles burn fat. Don't be stressed out about it, keep doing your thing, and your body will change. A good friend of mine has become an extreme Crossfitter, and while the number on the scale is exactly the same, she's now a muscly goddess with almost no fat.

Also-- 1200 calories a day could be too few for your body type. We all know calorie restriction in extremes can cause the body to hold on to extra fat stores because it thinks it won't get enough in the near future. Make sure you are restricting calories in a healthy way. Stay away from the "diet" processed food crap and try to eat real wholesome fat sources to see optimum fat loss.

Good luck! Don't stress about your lbs, stress about your shape. :)
